Nvidia Overtakes Microsoft and Apple as the World’s Most Valuable Company
Nvidia has officially surpassed Microsoft and Apple to become the most valuable publicly traded company globally. With a market capitalization of $3.34 trillion, Nvidia slightly outpaces Microsoft’s $3.32 trillion and Apple’s $3.29 trillion valuations.
As of now, Nvidia’s stock is priced around $135 following a 10-for-1 stock split that took place in June. Before the split, Nvidia shares were trading around $1,200. This stock split was a strategic move to make Nvidia’s stock more accessible and improve its chances of being included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. This index typically favors companies with more reasonably priced shares to ensure no single company disproportionately impacts its performance.

Nvidia’s Humble Beginnings and Growth
Founded in 1991, Nvidia initially focused on developing graphics cards for high-performance video gaming. Over the years, the company has transformed into a major player in powering artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing, fueling advancements in multiple sectors. Nvidia’s rise was significantly driven by the booming demand for GPUs during the cryptocurrency mining craze that began in 2010. Although the mining boom was eventually overtaken by the emergence of ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits), Nvidia’s GPUs continued to dominate in various other industries, particularly AI.
Nvidia and the AI Revolution
Nvidia’s GPUs have become the preferred choice for major tech companies like OpenAI, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, all of whom rely on Nvidia’s powerful chips to build and scale their AI infrastructures. In its latest quarterly report, Nvidia revealed impressive financial results, generating $26 billion in revenue, with $22.6 billion coming from its data center business. These results prompted CEO Jensen Huang to announce that Nvidia plans to release new AI chipsets annually, a move that signals a modern industrial revolution impacting all global sectors.
Previously, Nvidia introduced high-end microprocessors every two years, with notable releases like the Ampere architecture in 2020, the Hopper architecture in 2022, and the Blackwell architecture in 2024.
AI Model Training and GPU Power
