Aging League of Legends player base: Riot senior developers…

League of Legends has been around for a while and its player base has aged along with the game. The development team has noticed that most long-time players are playing the game and the number of new players has decreased significantly.

League of Legends has been around since 2009 and has continued to grow in popularity over the years. Its prime time began in 2014, making it a major competitor to Minecraft.

While the hype around the game remains strong, most of the player base is made up of longtime players who have been playing for years. The arrival of new players would have decreased.

Therefore, the team designed some changes to make the game more attract new players and to provide long-time players with additional motivation to continue playing the game.

League of Legends: what Riot has planned for newcomers

League of Legends Summon

Do you remember your first hours in League of Legends? It was super difficult to get into, and as soon as we played against regular players, the motivation collapsed. But the more games you played with your friends, the warmer you got.

However, in the past, the main problem was mainly mastering the game. Nowadays, there is a much bigger problem: Many players create a smurf account, which further fuels the discouragement of continuing to play the game when you’re new. Riot is already working on identifying and combating smurfs. However, according to the developers, this isn’t necessarily enough to encourage many new players to try the game.

Honestly, it’s not the same situation as it was 10 years ago, where you were in middle school or high school and (League) is the game that everyone talks about, that everyone plays. There are a lot of other games we are competing with now.

Nowadays, many competitors offer a much simpler entry into their games, making them much more attractive to new players, like Fortnite or Roblox. Therefore, Riot plans to create an easier entry to help newcomers understand complex game mechanics more quickly.

Many long-time players, as well as those who have recently started the game, are sure of one thing: The tutorial and intro are in desperate need of an overhaul!

What Long-Time Players Can Expect

Not only newcomers can expect an update, but also current players. By analyzing the existing player base, they noticed that players had aged alongside the game and now had different preferences.

Now, for some members of our audience—especially those who now have jobs, kids, or otherwise—we’re seeing an additional shift toward “Hey, I want to be competitive every once in a while and I want other experiences too . »

Therefore, the developers aim to provide a change of pace for these types of players compared to the longer, more intense matches of Summoner’s Rift. They plan to introduce some new game modesand I hope we might even see some of our beloved fashions from the past.

So we can expect Riot to make some changes in the near future. will not necessarily affect Summoner’s Rift and core gameplay but will offer a nice variety and makes it easier for new players to get into the game.
